Most of my daily thoughts are trying to see things from someone else's vantage point.

That's probably exaggerated, which is a poor way to open a blog post, but it feels true.

Will the customer understand why we are doing this?

What would my wife think about this?

How will this lesson connect with the class?

These questions and hundreds of others similarly flow through my brain daily.

That's not necessarily a bad thing.

Actually, I think it's my secret superpower and a superpower for many other people. It helps me navigate interpersonal relationships at work, church, or life in general.

But this website, blog, or newsletter, whatever it is now, will contain thoughts from my perspective, from my VANTAGE POINT.

Let me start with where it will not go—at least, I don't think it will.

  • Political - I don't care to write about political stuff.
  • Hot topic theological stuff - I hate debate
  • Latest news - I don't care

So, what would I write about?

That's where this gets interesting. I may write about anything.

I may notice something as I walk the graveyard on my lunch and write about it.

I may sort through some emotions as I face my mid-forties–and write about it.

I might read a Bible verse or quote and write about it.

I want this to be a place where I can sit on my back porch on a cool evening, crack open my laptop, and write about what's going on in life.

Is my life special? No.

This is simply a blog.

Maybe my perspective will encourage you. Maybe it will challenge you. Maybe this isn’t for you–and that’s okay.

Over the last five years, I have read multiple books on writing, filled journals, both paper and electronic with words, and even consistently wrote a newsletter for a while.

Yet, still, as intimidated by the art of writing as I am, I still feel a draw (I'm not ready to say it's a calling) to write.

Many of my prayer journal entries ask God about this feeling to write.

This is a place to take action. To overcome the fears and hit publish. To practice, but also, to have some fun recording stories from life.

Let’s see how this goes.
