God's Way is Perfect, But Not Always Easy

Psalm‬ ‭18:30‬ ‭

As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.

David was a young teenage boy kneeling before the famous prophet Samuel when he heard these words, “Arise, anoint him: for this is he.

Those last three words would change David’s life forever. “This is he” meant that he was God’s chosen man to be the next king.

I’m not sure exactly what went through teenage David’s mind at that point, but if he was anything like us, he probably imagined power, money, a beautiful queen, and popularity.

What David’s youthful mind couldn’t see was a life full of trouble. Did he become king? Yes, but life wasn’t easy. At the end of his life, though, when he looked back on his path that was drastically different than teenage David pictured, he summarized it with these words, “As for God, his way is perfect.”

Now, take yourself back to your teenage days. What type of life did you envision?

Has everything gone as planned?

For most of us, the answer is no. Rarely does life go how we planned, but it’s never a surprise to God. Some of life’s trials are designed by God to build our faith and some are the result of our sin.

In either situation, God is working to develop our faith and strengthen our relationship with Him. When we see our life from God’s perspective, we will have the same conclusion as David, “As for God, his way is perfect.
