Trials and temptations may bring your deepest pain, but they also provide your most significant opportunities for spiritual growth.

J C Ryle once said, “Trials are intended to make us think, to wean us from the world, to send us to the Bible, to drive us to our knees.”

Charles Spurgeon described the great value of his trials, writing, “I am afraid that all the grace that I have got out of my comfortable and easy times and happy hours might almost lie on a penny. But the good that I have received from my sorrows, pains, and griefs is altogether incalculable.”

1 Corinthians 10:13 reminds us that temptation is not unique to us. So many face temptations and trials, but sadly, not everyone overcomes the pain?

How can we overcome the pain and grow when life’s trials come?

Know that God is faithful

Satan’s voice is the loudest when we go through pain, trying to convince us that God isn’t good. God won’t fail you. He hurts for you.

Cling to the promises of God

The only way to combat Satan’s attacks of doubt is with the promises of God’s Word.

Cry out to God

Don’t hold back. God knows you are hurting. He loves you. Cry out to him. Tell him your thoughts. Ask him to lead you, guide you, and strengthen you.

We all, at some point, get enrolled in Adversity University.  Those that graduate learn to silence Satan’s attacks of doubt with the promises of God’s Word and humbly allow the adversity to be their greatest teacher.

For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;     ~ 2 Corinthians 4:16-17
